Compulsive Disorders

Compulsive behaviors sometimes accompany chemical dependency. They are characterized by obsessive thoughts or actions that impact a person’s health, job, relationship, or other parts of life.

Individuals with compulsive disorders progressively depart from what is considered normal and socially responsible, legally or morally acceptable behavior. Often compulsive behavior is coupled with other addictions or disorders. Research states that 38 percent of individuals with a specific compulsive behavior also struggle with an eating disorder and 42 percent also have a chemical addiction. Of those addicted to cocaine, 50 to 70 percent display compulsive tendencies. Given these types of behaviors vastly differ from person to person, speaking with one of our expert clinical staff is the best way to assess and formulate appropriate treatment.

Two Dreams treats multiple types of compulsive behaviors in combination with our substance abuse recovery programs.
